Appearing in “Vengeance is Mine” Drumlanrig Castle was used as the Duke of Sandringham’s estate. While Claire, Jamie and Murtagh were confronting the Duke in the kitchen, the British Army had set up camp in the castle grounds.
Drumlanrig Castle is sometimes known as the ‘Pink Palace’ because of pink-coloured stonework. It can be found at the Queensberry Estate in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. Once a stronghold of the Douglas Clan, it is now home to the Duke and Duchess of Buccleuch and Queensberry.
The castle dates back to the 17th century. It played a part in the Jacobite rebellion, Bonnie Prince Charlie staying there in 1745, on his journey north to Culloden.
