A few miles south of Cumbernauld, Torbrex Farm was used in Outlander season 2, episode 10 to re-create the Battle of Prestonpans. The site is best reached by car, along narrow country roads.
The farm is private property. However, reports suggest that the owners are very accommodating of considerate visitors.
Many of the battle scenes were filmed within a large marquee set up on the field. This enclosed space allowed the crew to control the smokey, muddy environment and convey the required atmosphere.
Torbrex Farm reappeared in season 3 in the opening episode, The Battle Joined, being used as the Culloden Battlefield.
